Set your console's DNS to 168.235.092.108 (US) and 081.004.127.020 (EU) (use both) to block the console from downloading updates.
Lets you convert Wii (ISO / WBFS) & GC (ISO / GCM) games into VC eshop format so they can be installed via WUP Installer GX2. If you wish to make your own download the Teconmoon WiiVC Injector. You Will need the Wii U common Key and the Rhythm Heaven Fever (USA) Title Key. Note: I have to use 2 separate USB drives for games. 1 for Wii U titles, 1 for Wii/GC titles. Also, you can not have 2 hard drives plugged into the Wii U at the same time, so you need to switch if you want Wii U/GC. It was convenient though to use the same drive I had used on my hacked Wii. I don't know why. I use wii USB helper to inject games, that way I can play gamecube games on my gamepad at NATIVE resolution on a native res display if I feel like it or swap back. I have a few roms for. FLUX = Requires Wii Remote Motion Controls. If you inject with GamPad support, this will only work with VOID and FATE, if you inject Horizontal Wii Remote emulation, this will only work with CORE and RUNNER. If you choose either GamePad support or Horizontal Wii Remote emulation, out of the 6 games, you will end up with 4 not working.
Settings > System Settings > Internet > Connect to the Internet > Select your connection > Change settings > DNS (Don't auto-obtain)
If you don't do this, you allow Nintendo to update your console without asking. In the absolute worst case this can brick your Wii U.
If you want to block system updates without a custom DNS, use this method.

FAQ
Can I update to 5.5.x (current OFW)?
Updating to the newest firmware is perfectly safe. However, if you're not using Haxchi and want to keep the old browser exploit which is said to be more reliable, you may want to take a look at this guide.
Can I use DLCs and play online?
Generally, yes, but keep in mind that you will need to boot into CFW in order to play DLC and eShop-only games. If you're using Loadiine, there's no guarantee whether you'll get either to work. Consider switching to the Brazilian method.
How do I decrypt games for use with Loadiine/CEMU?
There's a small tool called 'cdecrypt' you can use for that. Some NUS downloaders like JNUSTool already come with it, but a bit of googling around should do the job too.
How can I get VC games to show up in Loadiine?
Just stop using Loadiine.
Notes on NUSspli
- NUSspli generates a fake ticket and downloads directly from the eShop to your Wii U. You require an SD card. The app updates automatically. There are known bugs like sometimes you can't directly install the game while you download it (it would ask you to update your Homebrew Launcher even though you have the latest version), so you have to choose 'download to SD' and then install it with WUP GX to nand or USB
- All games downloaded via NUSspli require the use of CFW to launch, this is because it's not using a legit ticket but a fake one generated through Nintendo's own ticket generation algorithm
- The download speeds are bad, really, really bad, so if you got no other way to download your games, turn off power save mode from your Wii U's settings so it doesn't shutdown automatically after a while. If a download stops, just press Y after 30 seconds. You can leave the app in the middle of a download and resume it later.

- If you're having trouble getting an external HDD to work on your Wii U, make sure it's connected via a Y-cable, since the Wii U doesn't supply it with enough power otherwise which can lead to crashes.
- In DS Virtual console games, you can change the internal resolution to X2 by editing the /game/content/configuration_cafe.json file. Search for 'Renderscale', it should display a 1. Switch it to 2.
